In need of dams
“If there was some funding, we could make our own small dams”

Godfrey Makunja from Bungoma:
Now, in the recent years we have seen the rain patterns and even the amount of rain going down, down and down. Because of that, our government has taken an initiative by building dams in different parts of a district. Unfortunately, the impact won’t be realised by many farmers. The dam is too far away from their farms, and the means to even take the water to various points is still a problem. Instead, we have decided to think that we can tap water from the tops of the houses when it rains, and then the water can go into small dams at various points. We want to scoop our own dams with the layout of special papers (fibre cloth) so that we can store this water to sustain us during the dry seasons. With some funding it could be a reality.
